Planning Advisory Committee

The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is made up of volunteers appointed by Moncton City Council. The PAC advises Council on planning-related matters and is the approving authority for variances, conditional use applications, and applications for similar and compatible uses.

Regular PAC meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, except for the month of December when the meeting is held on the third Wednesday. 

Meetings take place in Council Chambers at Moncton City Hall unless otherwise noted.

Current Applications

Some development applications require Planning Advisory Committee approval. 

Public notice of these applications is posted to this page and mailed to property owners within a 60-metre radius of the property named in the application. 

The Committee meets once per month to consider applications. All PAC meetings are open to the public. You may submit written comments ahead of time and/or speak on variances and conditional use applications on which the PAC has approval authority. 

APPLICATION DETAILS

The City of Moncton has received a request to allow an electronic sign in a restricted area due to the proximity of traffic control devices. The requested sign is a replacement and slight enlargement of an existing electronic sign for the Capitol Theatre marquee.

APPLICATION DETAILS

The City of Moncton has received a request to allow a commercial use exceeding 1,500 square metres of gross floor area at 1866 Mountain Road. The application is for a 314 square metre addition to an existing commercial use (Wheaton’s) that will increase the total gross floor area of the building to approximately 1,649 square metres.

APPLICATION DETAILS

The City of Moncton has received a request for the following variances:

  • To reduce the required side yard setback from 12.0 metres to 2.1 metres at 2515 Mountain Road (PID 00939454); and
  • To allow a 6-storey building above 18 metres in height at 2511 Mountain Road (PID 70723911).

These variances are to accommodate a new 6-storey multiple unit dwelling with 94 units at 2511 Mountain Road (PID 70723911).

APPLICATION DETAILS

Bell Mobility has submitted an application to construct a new monopole communications tower at 1904 Main Street.

In conjunction with this proposal, subdivision approval is required to create a parcel of land to be conveyed to the City for public purposes. A variance is also required to permit a reduction in lot area from 7,400 square metres to 508.4 square metres.

APPLICATION DETAILS

A subdivision application has been submitted by Bell Mobility to create a new lot for the construction of a proposed monopole communications tower.

APPLICATION DETAILS

The City of Moncton is proposing to acquire additional right of way through the subdivision of private land on Elmwood Drive. This right-of-way is needed to support construction of a new multi-use path on the east side of Elmwood Drive, between Lewisville Road and Donald Avenue
